Hansons Auctioneers
Charles began his career at Christies in London and established his own auction house, Hansons, in 2005. Along with sales of items from historic houses, including Kedleston Hall, Bishton Hall and Sudbury Hall, Hansons have been privileged to see a wide range of exciting objects go ‘under the hammer’, including a rare and fine Chinese Qianlong vase selling for a wonderful £650,000.
Charles has now launched 10 other auction salerooms across the UK since building on the success of his Derbyshire auction centre. Driven by a passion for history, Charles’s unwavering enthusiasm and passion has contributed to the ongoing success of his business.
Charity Work
Charles is a keen supporter of local and national charities, supporting good causes through Hansons valuation days as well as giving talks to local associations and groups.

Recent high profile events include:
- Raising over £133,000 for the Nottinghamshire Hospice, auctioning robin sculptures created by local artists
- Generating more than £1m auctioning Manchester’s Bee in the city sculptures
Away from the world of antiques, Charles is also an avid Derby County fan!
